Hull and Machinery Claims
As Average Adjusters - our personnel are fellows of their national Associations of Average Adjusters - we handle claims on the hull and machinery policy.
General Average
When a peril situation arises during a voyage measures may be taken to preserve from peril all interests involved. The sacrifice or expenditure made may in some circumstances be shared by all those who benefit therefrom. This is where a General Average has to be adjusted.
What is Seven Seas & Co doing:
On being notified of a situation we advise the shipowner whether the conditions required to declare a General Average are present.
We also look at certain clauses of the Hull & Machinery policy in order to, if at all possible, avoid the necessity of collecting security (Average Bond & Average Guarantee or a deposit) from other interests (Cargo, charterers,).
Once one has come to a decision to declare General Average:
• We contact and advise all the parties involved on the General Average.
• We arrange the collection of General Average security from the interests involved. We speak seven languages which facilitates international contacts.
• All the data is dealt with, in particular when a container ship is concerned, through dedicated databases and computer programs. We have the necessary experience to deal with thousands of Bills of Lading.
• We handle the case and prepare a full adjustment.
• We collect the contributions due from all interests and settle with those who have a credit balance to receive.
• We answer the queries of all those concerned.
